Preserving Ginger Slices Directions
Step 1
Always ensure you wash your Jar, ring and new lid with soap and water and then sterilize your jar, ring and lid by fully submerging them in boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
Step 2
Remove the skin from your ginger and then use a potato peeler to slice your ginger into thin slices. Pack the slices into your disinfected jar. The thin slices makes the preserving ginger slices process much easier as well as makes portion control a breeze.
Step 3
Create your pickling liquid and bring to a boil. This recipe is enough for one 250ml jar, if you are using a larger 500ml jar or doing multiple jars, just multiply the recipe as required.
PER 250 ML JAR
1/2 Cup Rice wine vinegar
1/2 Cup Water
1/4 Cup White Sugar
2 tsp salt

Once your pickling liquid has come to a boil, pour your pickling liquid over the sliced ginger pieces and allow to cool for 15 minutes. Once the liquid has cooled a little , seal the jar with a sterilized ring and lid, then store in the fridge.
This easy preserve ginger will keep in the refrigerator for up to 6 months. Allowing a garden quality ginger available year round in your home.
