How to Save Money

How to save money is to focus on where and when you spend money. As a sign of the times, this is something most of us will be looking at a little closer nowadays. With fuel, food and inflation increases seemingly never ending, reducing your expenses is becoming a must do. Here are a few easy to start and cost effective savings:

How To Save Money List

  1. Purchasing shelf stable or freezable foods that you use in bulk only when on sale. This saves up to 50% or more on products you use on the regular. Flour, Olive Oil, butter etc
  2. Start growing your own produce where and when you can. Many gardeners , like myself LOVE to share our knowledge, harvest and seed supplies.
  3. Learn to preserve your harvest. Canning and freezing are simple ways to stock up your cupboard and freezer. Each fall gardeners are always giving away what they can’t fit or use, so take advantage of gardeners generosity. Food insecurities do not have to exist.
  4. If possible, plant perennial fruits, like strawberries, raspberries and apple trees. These plants produce fruit each year, some like many strawberry strains create daughter plants to increase your yields year after year with minimal effort.
  5. Consult your local bylaws and add a few hens to supply you with eggs. Sometimes even year round.
  6. When fruits or vegetables you cannot or have not produced are on sale, make jams and freeze for future use.

How to save money is also the same way , in my opinion, we can reduce the food insecurities across the globe. As well as reduce the impact we have on our planet by reducing the importing and exporting required from the system. What we can grow and build locally we should, and import what we cannot or what is not efficient to due to climate etc. We are the solution, if we take care of each other locally, it will spread across the globe.

Not only does supplementing your food save you money, it usually has a denser nutrient value. Growing your own also reduces the chemical exposure your body absorbs from the foods you eat. When your food is grown at home you can be sure if it has had contact with pesticides or other chemicals.
